Your skin · understand it in a few minutes

Moisture is one thing.
Keeping it is another.

Your skin needs water to stay supple. But it also needs a barrier that limits water loss. Here is the difference between adding moisture and helping it stay.

See how skin is built ↓
The essentials first

You've just had a shower.
Yet your skin feels dry.

Ordinary creams often contain 70% water. But water alone is not enough — skin also needs to retain moisture. Talliv is 100% fat-based, softens skin and helps limit moisture loss.
01 · Skin layers

A living layer.
An important defence.

Skin has three main layers. At the top of the epidermis lies the stratum corneum — an important part of the skin barrier. This is where moisturising care primarily works.

Skin cells and lipids work together to help limit water loss and protect against external influences.

Outermost

The epidermis protects

In the stratum corneum, skin cells sit closely together with lipids between them. Think of the cells as bricks and the lipids as mortar.

In the middle

The dermis supports

This layer contains connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves, among other things. Collagen and elastin contribute to skin's strength and elasticity.

Innermost

Subcutaneous tissue cushions

Fat and connective tissue provide cushioning and help insulate the body.

02 · Listen to the surface

How does
your skin feel today?

Your skin's needs can change with the weather, washing and daily life.
Start with what you feel.

Tight after washing

After washing, skin may need help retaining moisture. Apply a little tallow balm to slightly damp skin — it softens the surface and helps limit water loss.

Rough or flaky

Purified tallow is a rich fat base that makes a dry, rough surface softer and more supple. Start with a small amount and adjust to your skin's needs.

Easily irritated

Keep your routine simple. Pure contains purified tallow with no added fragrance. Try on a small area first. If stinging, redness or itching persists, have your skin assessed.

03 · Moisture that stays

Skin needswater. And helpto hold on to it.

After a shower, skin is already damp. Now it is about retaining that moisture. Purified tallow softens the skin's surface and forms a protective layer that helps limit water loss. A small amount of balm on slightly damp skin gives water and lipids their own roles.

Attract

Bind water in the skin

Humectants such as glycerin and urea help the stratum corneum bind water. Tallow can then help retain moisture by limiting water loss from the skin.

Water provides moisture. Lipids help retain it.

Your skin needs
more than moisture.
It needs to retain it.

You know it from taking a shower: skin gets wet but can still feel dry afterwards. Water alone is not enough. The skin barrier must also limit the water that escapes.

Talliv starts with lipids. Our balm is 100% fat-based with no added water. It softens the skin's surface and forms a protective layer that helps retain moisture. On slightly damp skin, water and fat each have their own role.

Water as the base

A light feel on application. How well moisture stays depends on the humectants and lipids also present in the cream.

Lipids

Lipids as the entire base

100% fat-based. 0% added water. Softens skin and helps retain the moisture already there.

70/30 is an illustrative example, not a market average. Water percentage alone does not determine how long moisturising care works.
